My presentation skill during COMPACT training

This was an internal programme for the employees, for better communication. I am a part of this programme. The first day, pre-assessment. They gave some vocabulary test, e-mail writing and finally the trainees to present a presentation for 5 minutes. This is to judge each ones’ presentation skill. I was very confident in e-mail writing and the other objective types of questions. Finally, we were to present a presentation. I thought of presenting without any slides. The time I entered the room, I was shocked to see some ten people sitting round the table and assessing each one of us. I started with a good tone, and I was very conscious that they were shooting a video. The minute I saw the video I got very nervous and forgot the words. Within a minute I got stuck and I was not able to proceed further.

Why those fear? Are they going to hit me if I am not presenting it well or are they going to kick me off from the office immediately? The answers to all these questions are NO. Because from my childhood I have a habit that I become nervous if I feel somebody is watching me. Now, this is the great obstacle in my career that I have to overcome. I am not sure how I will overcome this fear, but I found one alternate that I should not be conscious when some people are watching me. This will really help to relax myself.

Wait and watch the result of post-assessment…. J

My family trip to Thirumala

We were in a hurry booking tickets to Thirumala darshan, because the school will re-open for my daughter by June second week. The background of this visit to Thirumala is that I prayed to offer my daughter’s hair to god when she was born. It took us five years. We started to railway station and got into the train sharp by 1.30 and we reached Thirupathi by 5.45 in the evening.

Initially, we planned to book a room and stay at Thirupathi and then go to Thirumala the next day for darshan. I insisted my family to go straight to Thirumala and book a room. We reached Thiurmala in half an hour’s time and my husband was standing in the queue to book the room. After an hour the first batch of people were moved to the ticket counter and in another one hour’s time the security guy said there are no rooms available and the people can disperse. My husband really got irritated. He was scolding me till we returned to Chennai. There is no option to get any room. Then, we decided and took our daughter to tonsure. We were started in the queue by 9.30 p.m. and we came out by 12.00 midnight. I did not expect that my husband will also tonsure. J (He looks like a perfect Telugu movie vilian after he lost his hair)

There is no choice except to use the public stay area and the washrooms as we have not booked the accommodation. Next day morning we had a beautiful darshan of Balaji, ate prasadham, got laddus and came back to the bus stand. We were standing and planning to do next. There came one fellow and asked if we are ready to see six tourist places in Thirumala. We were eager and started our journey; we visited Akasha ganga, Paapavinasam, Rock garden and Siva’s temple, Sri Venugopal swamy temple ( I bought one Kannan idol), and Srivari Padalu. Even my mother-in-law was not tired and she accompanied us to all the places.

After this journey ends, we immediately started to Alamelu Mangapuram. We reached there by 6.00 p.m, but the darshan ticket counter was closed and it opened only by 7.00 p.m. We had a nice darshan and got laddus and came back to the bus terminus. I thought of telling my husband to book a room as we all are very tired and I got reminded the scolding and I kept quite. He immediately took us to board a bus to Kalahasti. Our journey begins again…

We reached Kalahasti around 10.00 p.m. One guy took us to a lodge room and we settled there that night. We ordered for dinner, ate, and we slept. Next day morning it was 10.00 a.m. we woke up.
We got ready and had breakfast and left to Kalahasti temple. We had a good darshan. The prashadham (puliyodharai)  they issued was very tasty. Then, we came back to the room and started our journey to home.

I really felt relaxed and stress less after visiting the holy places. It was nice to see all the tourist spots at one time, which I have never visited. Also, it was a good family trip to me after two years.

My naughty daughter!!!

Every day when I return home from office she will ask me “Mom, what have you bought for me?” Sometimes I will get snacks or chocolates for her, sometimes I will not. One day, I got her snacks like murukku, milk sweet, and samosa. She was surprised to see all at one time. First, she took one samosa and ate. Next her favorable milk sweet. Last but not the least, she finished muruku as well. She shared everything with my mother-in-law and also to me. After completing her snacks she asked me “Mom, we read rhymes”. I said “Ok. Come with your book”. She immediately gave her book and we both started rhyming together. After three to four rhymes she got bored and went to the hall from our bed room. I was just finishing the snack that she shared with me. She came with a cricket bat. I told her to place it there itself, as it is huge and weight she cannot handle it. She tried like hitting a ball and it hit in my left cheek. Immediately tears rolled out from my eyes and she has absconded from my sight. I told her, “This is the punishment you give to your mom, when your mom wants to spend time with you”. I cannot hit her for all her plays, because she is my sweet little naughty child. J

Today in a hurry I run to office

At early morning 5.20 the electricity was switched off. It was so suffocating since it is a summer day. I wake up at 5.30 and opened the front door and placed a chair and I was trying to sleep there. The alarm got rang exactly at 5.30 am to disturb me; I wake up from the chair and switched off the alarm. Again, I tried to have a small nap in the same chair, but now our pet cat jumped on my lap and wake me up asking for milk. I dropped some milk to him and then again I tried to sleep. This time I am not at all comfortable sleeping in that chair and decided to wake up; the time is 6.15 a.m.

When I am done with my early morning activities the power was switched on. Then, as usual I started to do my day-to-day activities of boiling milk, keeping hot water for my husband to take bath, cooking and etc... In this meantime my husband and daughter was deep sleeping. Then I rushed to finish everything and my husband started to office at 8.10. I rinsed the washed clothes in the machine and took it to the terrace to dry. Came back and take my daughter and make her bath, I got ready to office, did pooja, and gave my daughter her breakfast. After all these happened my mother-in-law entered slowly returning back from my brother-in-law’s home. I immediately took my hand bag and lunch bag and said a bye to my daughter and left home. I was walking fast to catch the bus and I ended up catching a bus that goes only till Collector Nagar. So I got down at Thirumangalam and took another bus to Vavin. I entered office at 10.05 and 10.15 is the meeting. I thanked god that I am on the right time to attend my meeting.

My session on Simile (si-mu-lee)

I was little nervous and was on time in the meeting room. I started the session with distributing a small bit of paper to each listener to write down the feedback of the session. This will really help me to see the feedback as and when and will try to avoid that feedback again. I started with a slow voice with the introduction.  The session was so simple and it was lasts only for few minutes. Good! I’m satisfied that I covered the topic and it went well. I asked for the feedback and everybody started writing…. I collected the paper and said thank you for the feedback and we dispersed.
After the session I started to read the feedback, most of it saying the session was good. But the few feedbacks that I need to take care in my next session were about the introduction is not clear and the pronunciation of the words. Instead of si-mul-lee, I pronounced it as si-mile. One of the feedbacks was that the listener described that she has used “like” and “as” several times in her writing without knowing that these are simile. She thanked me for letting her know. J (Even I thank you for patiently listening to my lectureJ)
My next post will be my next experience on the session II.

After a long break

We three (my teammates and myself) were excited to play carom after a long break. The game was interesting and as always I was in the poverty line J (the points I got was very low). I jumped and occupied the next empty chair to try my better luck in the next round. Not bad, I earned some points and we beat one of our teammate. It was very relaxing and we totally forgot all our past for few minutes and enjoyed the play. Hope to play regularly, if my Lead never minds… J

Error Message...

After 15 days I switched ON my mobile. The battery was totally down and it requires an eight hours charge to start off. I found one SIM was missing in that, I asked my hubby and replied nothing. I guessed it must be his workL. I did not bother to ask him again for the missed SIM, I continued to use the second SIM. After few hours, the mobile displayed an error saying “Phone will be immediately corrupted” and it turned off. I was wondering What must be the problem? No idea… I switch it ON and it was fine for few minutes. But the error message started to display very often. I tried to solve this error changing some settings, but no use. I got really frustrated and left the mobile at home for 2 days and I decided not to bring that mobile anymore to office. Yesterday, without my knowledge I took the mobile to my office. The same issue started and a spark came in my mind. I googled for the error message and there are lot of responses for that. One person said it might be due to mobile tracker is ON, so I disabled the mobile tracker. The issue continued… another one said due to dual SIM option this error might happen. Again a spark, I remember I have only one SIM now, but the standby mode is enabled for dual SIM option. Immediately I turned the option to “Only SIM 2” option. I waited for few minutes. Wow! Wonderful, the mobile stopped showing the error message. Thanks to Google! J
The moral of this post is you can solve everything by googling!!!  J
